The National Airport of Kythira is a modern airport that serves the need of the island completely. The airport was the ardent desire of Kythera for decades. The first landing in the small earth landing ground took place on December 20 th of 1971. So Kythera was connected to Athens with small planes of Olympic Aviation and slowly-slowly the routes became daily. The new corridor of 1480 metres functioned in 1988 and the new building installations functions from 2003.
