Kythera island have an area of 278 km² and it is one of the larger Greek islands. The length of its coastlines is about 90 km. At the northern end of the island is the lighthouse of Moudari, which was built in 1857 by the English, while in the port of Kapsali, in the southern part of the island, is a lighthouse built in 1853.
